International Women's Day

Every March 8, the world celebrate Women. In a bid to commemorate the day, APWEN Ibadan Chapter organized an event to forge a more inclusive world for women, with the theme ‘Accelerating equality through economic empowerment’. The event took place on Tuesday, 26th March, 2024 at Petroleum Engineering Lecture Theatre (PLT), University of Ibadan and was virtually shared online. The colourful event was graced by our Guest speaker, Prof. Aina Adeogun, who gave her insight, recommendations for women, and challenged female engineers to join forces and break glass ceilings in the transformation of the engineering profession for an all round development. An award of merit was given to her for the outstanding lecture delivered. The event also host different dignitaries amongst whom was the Honourable commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and social inclusion, Hon. Mrs. Toyin Balogun duly represented by Mr. Gbemileke Ojerinde. Also in attendance was the Dean, Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan, Prof. Bamigboye, NSE Ibadan Branch Chairman ably represented by his Vice, Engr. Ayokunnu Ayodele, MNSE. In a bid to encourage national development, the Guest speaker, Prof. Aina Adeogun charged students in attendance to come up with projects that could be beneficial to developing the nation and she offered a prize to any student who come up with the best design.
